Five Guys Fantasy Baseball Daily Top Plays 4-21-14
Tonight we target a high-scoring affair with our fantasy baseball daily top plays.

Pay up for King Felix or feel the royal wrath.
Sometimes conditions converge perfectly to make one game stand out far beyond the rest. There are many factors we examine when considering our fantasy baseball daily top plays. Park conditions, weather, Vegas odds, matchups, and so on. Tonight we see the rare perfect storm of variables come together to form a “super game” of sorts for us to hone in on. Colorado employees are no stranger to being in the discussion for top picks, as playing half your games in by and far the most favorable hitter’s environment is a huge boon. Where we can really edge out value is in visiting hitters, as their salaries may not reflect the added opportunity of playing in such a friendly environment.
This evening’s game between the Giants and the Rockies has it all. The weather looks pristine, the pitchers are both afterthoughts, the game is at Coors Field, and most importantly the Giants take on a left-handed hurler which transforms many of their best hitters into elite values. You’ll find this game is a recurring theme in our fantasy baseball daily top plays.
Five Guys Fantasy Baseball Daily Top Plays
Buster Posey $9,450 - Posey is one of the league’s premiere lefty-mashers, transforming into a top-five overall hitter every time a southpaw rolls into town. When you factor in the Coors Field boost and the weak nature of Jorge De la Rosa you have an extremely heightened chance of multiple dongs. He broke out of his season-opening slump yesterday, and that makes me all the more confident in his chances tonight. Buster also happens to play one of the most difficult positions to squeeze value from in daily fantasy baseball, and this makes him all the more valuable.
Felix Hernandez $20,800 - The price tag is certainly inhibitive, but for cash games I can’t find any way around rostering King Felix. The Astros are one of the league’s most strikeout-prone clubs, and picking on their lineup is a theme we’ve seen for a few seasons now. Add in the safe confines of Safeco Field and it’s an easy call for top daily fantasy baseball ace tonight.
Hunter Pence $9,700 - Pence is Posey’s less heralded partner in crime, as both tend to deliver the goods versus lefties. You’ll need a few modest priced studs to round out a roster anchored by Felix Hernandez, and Pence is priced as a mid-range play with a chance to be a top scorer.
Carlos Gonzalez $11,950 - It may be near-impossible to roster CarGo and King Felix on the same team, but we’ll have to wait until all the lineups become available and see. If I’m able to squeeze in his bat I’m willing to take a risk on a few value plays in good spots.
Pablo Sandoval $8,150 - One such value play is the Panda, and while it’s been a difficult start to the season he’s much more talented than this price tag would suggest. Throw in all the other factors of the evening’s matchup and it becomes nearly impossible to pass on this deal.
