Fantasy Sports Live Update 5-21-14
Fantasy Sports Live is the place to be!
Buster Posey took the night off, but that didn’t stop emwin55 from taking down the Field of Dreams!
Coming up tonight at DraftDay we have the 3K Field of Dreams, and it looks like emwin55 is already locked and loaded, looking to take down the top spot on back-to-back nights. Are you going to let that happen? I’m not convinced that you can stop that train. Prove me wrong and take a stab at the $1,000 first place prize! Buy-in is $109 as usual, and we are only sitting at 10/30 right now, so there are plenty of spots for you to snatch up if you just can’t wait to take it down. Win the tournament, and you’ll have the distinct pleasure of being showered with praise by yours truly tomorrow morning. I can’t wait to tell everyone how great you are as I have my morning whiskey…or coffee, whichever is socially acceptable to drink at 7 AM.
If you have a smaller bankroll, or are just a Qualifier type of person, join the $12 Qualifier that rewards a 5K Field of Dreams ticket ($109 value). For the price of a new Nickelback CD, you could make an investment in your future. Listening to Chad Kroeger whenever you want forever or a chance at $2,000? Tough decision. If either option involves a guy named “Chad”, rest assured I’ll be on the other side. Don’t mess this one up, but if you do, wear headphones. It’s not fair to make those around you listen to your bad decision.
We’ve got solid gold content today at FantasySportsLive, with CrazyGabey bringing you his infamous Five Guys piece. It should have a cult-like Justin Bieber following at this point. I’m not sure why it doesn’t. Let’s make that happen TODAY. Tell your friends.

CrazyGabey’s Five Guys was no contest last night, as ailk completely dominated the field, posting an incredible score of 320. That type of score would easily have won the “choice” prize at the state fair, and ailk would be walking away with the world famous 6-foot tall rastafarian banana. The combination of Adam Wainwright, Melky Cabrera, and Wilin Rosario ALONE placed him within 5 points of the money. It was smooth sailing from there, as the final margin between first and second was 94 points! Rounding out the top 5 are bsell25 (226), rcf5415 (225) TheDonkeys (224), and nedjays (217). Our own CrazyGabey found his way into the final paying spot, mostly as a result of his dedication to bearded players past and present (Jonny Gomes, Jose Bautista, Michael Morse). He clocked in at a solid 195. I’ll see you in there tonight. I fully intend to beat CrazyGabey by exactly one point. Stay tuned for that.
DraftDay Update
Our very own CrazyGabey took 5th place in the big $5K Knuckleball last night. He looked like a strong contender for the top spot until Ian Kennedy had a pathetic showing against the Twins. Well done Gabey, and a big congratulations to the champion, Ballerzzz81!
Tuesday night’s $5K Field of Dreams was another instant classic, with emwin55 taking home the big prize of $2,000 despite the lack of a catcher in his lineup (Posey). You guessed it, emwin55 went with the old “Spend up on a catcher who isn’t playing and STILL win a GPP because you’re just that good” strategy. George Springer’s RBI single in the 8th inning pushed him past “The Kool-Aid Man” AngryFish for the top spot, and the rest was history. But wait, there’s more! emwin55 wasn’t finished there. He also took down 5th place with a Posey-less lineup, and coincidentally enough, he rostered Hector Sanchez in that one, who ended up with a -4! Looks like emwin55 is simply a prophetic genius who used Posey as a decoy. Well played, sir. His second cash adedd an additional $200 to finish off a dominant Tuesday night. A familiar face was found in 3rd, with dbsultan posting a solid lineup as usual, taking down third place and $700.The ballsy a25smith cracked the top 5 in 4th, riding Miguel Gonzalez and his great performance at PNC Park against the swashbucklers all the way to the promised land. He was also the beneficiary of a whopping 136 combined points from Edwin Encarnacion and Melky Cabrera. That type of production from two guys gives you a pretty good chance at a nice payday.
Surprisingly, only one player who found their way into the money actually rostered Adam Wainwright and his 73 points. That distinct pleasure belongs to runitup, a household name across the industry, who finished 7th and took himself home $200.
Josh had some great under the radar plays for you yesterday, and if you missed out on Jonny Gomes (and his 44 points), who was only 14% owned in the Field of Dreams, Hisashi Iwakuma’s solid 30 points, or Doug Fister putting up 33 points with a really cheap salary, you have nobody to blame but yourself. Check out his next “Picks to Click” piece coming up on Friday. Your wallet will thank you.
