Fantasy Sports Live Update 5-20-14
Coffee tastes better with a Fantasy Sports Live daily update!
Howie Kendrick’s late-game heroics determined last night’s short slate.
What’s up, fellow daily fantasy junkies? BigItaly42 here to give you a daily fantasy update on the action at DraftDay and Fantasy Sports Live. I’m going to recap the PG-13 late night action that was delivered in Anaheim, and steer you towards some great new content posting TODAY on FantasySportsLive.
DraftDay Update
DraftDay is giving you the best Tuesday possible, hosting TWO different $5,000 MLB tournaments. First up is the Field of Dreams, a $109 buy-in, 50 player max, with the top-eight taking down the prize pool. First place is $2,000, so unless you have a better way of making a couple grand watching baseball all night, you’d better be clearing your schedule and making the trip to DraftDay before the 7 P.M. start. The $5K Knuckleball is the type of tournament that anyone can afford. A max of 375 players are allowed for this one, so make sure to get yourself registered as soon as you’ve had your coffee. With only a $15 buy-in, and a first prize of $1,000, you can multiply your investment by nearly 67 times (those are the real numbers, try it). The best part of all is that you don’t have to be the best to make a few bucks! Top 50 pays out, so just get there, and you’ll at least make some beer money.
Want to win your share of $200,000? If you don’t, you can go ahead and stop reading. None of the upcoming information is for you. For those of you who wouldn’t mind getting their hands on a six-figure payday: DraftDay is offering a $44 buy-in qualifier where you can win one of three tickets to the $200,000 Main Event on September 2nd. Hold off on buying that new YOLO t-shirt and matching fedora, and throw that $44 bucks toward something that won’t make you look like a tool. If you really feel that you still need the t-shirt and hat, winning a ton of money will leave you PLENTY of disposable income for trendy accessories. A guy who just won $50K can wear whatever the hell he wants. So go ahead and wear your fedora, just don’t be the poor guy with two cool hats, no cash, and a boring September 2nd full of regret.
DraftDay Field of Dreams Update
Monday’s edition of the Field of Dreams was a barnburner, as rrt7573 laid claim to the top spot with a double-century score (200). You guessed it, he vaulted to the top due to the “better-late-than-never” heroics by Howie Kendrick in Anaheim. The others players who earned their share of the pie were emwin55 (198), dave3318 (194), followed by dbsultan (181), who had first all but wrapped up until, well, you know the story. Needless to say, dbsultan won’t likely be tweeting anything positive about Mr. Howie Kendrick any time soon. Oddly enough, dbsultan had the only lineup in the top-four who didn’t have a negative score from any player on his roster.
Each of the top-three finishers had a negative from Garrett Richards, as well as their catcher spot (two with Wilson Ramos, one with Salvador Perez). As important as pitching is in the daily fantasy world, last night was one of those short slates where you didn’t win if you failed to roster the few big scorers. There were eight position players who eclipsed 32 points on DraftDay: Michael Brantley (48), Alexei Ramirez (47), Justin Upton (44), Eric Hosmer (38), Dayan Viciedo (33), Paul Konerko (32) Victor Martinez (32), and Freddie Freeman (32). Chances are, if you had at least a few of those guys in your lineups, you had a profitable Monday evening. That jerk (hero?) Howie Kendrick even scored 28.

A brand spanking new edition of Operation: 1ucror also hits the digital stands this afternoon. I hear we’ll be in for a treat as the tales of a daily fantasy professional on vacation will be recounted!
Make sure you watch CrazyGabey’s daily fantasy update video as well. Gabey’s question of the day is always fun, so give it a view and drop your answer in the comments below. Yesterday’s question of the day was about the recent injuries to Tony Parker and Serge Ibaka, and whether or not it would affect the playoff picture. I’m a Spurs homer, so take this for what it’s worth. I think the Spurs will take it down with a 50% Tony Parker!
