Fantasy Hockey Picks 2-19-15
These fantasy hockey picks will guide your team to victory tonight!
Goalies:
Ray Emery ($15,000) - Minimum price for a goalie that should be the safest to get the win. Hopefully Emery will face enough shots to reach value even if he allows one or two goals. This is always a risk for a goalie against Buffalo as they just don’t shoot enough. The points you get for the win should be enough to overcome this tonight.
Others: Cam Talbot, Carey Price
Centers:
Niklas Backstrom ($12,350) - The Washington Capitals have one of the best power plays in the league and get a matchup at home against a Jets teams who spends the most time in the league on the penalty kill. Look for Backstrom to set up Ovechkin on the power play this game. Get your Ovy exposure for a fraction of the price.
Claude Giroux ($13,050) - Giroux and Voracek have been ice cold as of late but here comes a Buffalo matchup that is a great way to break out of a slump. The best matchup in the league got even better with the loss of Tyler Myers and Drew Stafford.
Others: Joe Thornton, Evgeni Malkin
Left Wing:
Scott Hartnell ($13,750) - On fire and seems to fly under the radar. 7 game point streak with 11 points in those games. The games between Columbus and Pittsburgh have been extremely physical the last few seasons and this should lead to plenty of power play chances where Hartnell has been very effective.
Joe Pavelski ($15,200) - If you want consistency Pavelski is your guy. Pavelski has 53 points on the season to go along with 190 shots. With seemingly half of the Stars team being injured this matchup is great. Pavelski is as steady as they come for cash games as even when he doesn’t find the scoresheet he finds a way to contribute to your team.
Others: David Perron, Marcus Johansson
Right Wing:
Michael Frolik ($8,350) - With the injury to Matthew Perreault, Frolik should get top 6 minutes tonight. This price tag is the biggest factor in this play as it will not take much to pay off the salary given his ice time including power play ice time.
Wayne Simmonds ($12,750) - Simmonds has been the main man for the Flyers offense as of late. You will want to get some exposure from the Flyers against Buffalo for sure and riding the hot hand that gets top power play time is a great way to go. Simmonds is 4th in the NHL with 12 power play goals and Buffalo has the worst penalty kill in the entire league with a 73.8 success rate. Pairing Simmonds with Giroux will give you exposure to both even strength lines and two on the top power play.
Others: Rick Nash, James Neal
Defense:
Mike Green ($10,200) - The power play specialist should get plenty of chances tonight as I mentioned before against the WPG team that takes the most penalties in the league. Load up on the Flyers and Capitals power plays tonight.
Kevin Connauton ($5,650) - Recently bumped to the top power play unit for Columbus in a game where I see many penalties taken place. There should be plenty of opportunities for the young defenseman and his huge shot from the blue line.
Others: Mark Streit, Andrei Markov
