Fantasy Hockey Picks 12-27-14
These fantasy hockey picks are the key to unlocking BIG winnings tonight!
Time to get back to the grinding after a 3 day break that felt like ages in the DFS world. With lots of big favorites tonight I’ll lead you in the right direction. The NHL has a big slate of games on Monday and Wednesday in a unique schedule so look for the article on those days instead of the normal Tuesday and Thursday.
Goalies:
Henrik Lundqvist ($22,100) - “King” Lundqvist has won the last 6 games he has started and has a very intriguing matchup. The Rangers come into this game having won 7 straight and finally looking like the team that appeared in the finals last season. Lundqvist is a very safe option tonight.
Jonas Hiller ($15,450) - Similar to Lundqvist, Hiller should get the win tonight and we know how crucial that is. Edmonton comes into this game with the leagues worst record and really struggling. The Oilers are just in a bad time in franchise history and it doesn’t seem to be turning around anytime soon. Always safe to target them.
Others: Pekka Rinne, Ben Bishop (Whomever is in net for Tampa)
Center:
Sidney Crosby ($13,900) - When the best player in the world is only the 8th most expensive center and he has a great matchup at home you would be crazy to not play him. I wouldn’t be surprised if every team in the GPPs or in your cash games has him rostered.
Steven Stamkos ($13,600) - Another top 5 player in the league whose price is as low as you will ever see it. The matchup doesn’t get much better as Carolina has the 29th best record int he league. Lightning coach Jon Cooper has decided to switch the skating lines around trying to get the offense going again. This should light a fire under Stamkos and have him playing motivated.
Others: Sean Monahan, Derek Stepan
Left Wing:
Pavel Datsyuk ($8,500) - Datsyuk is another player that needs to be 100% owned right now. He has played outstanding the last few games and could have realistically have had a hat trick in his last two games. He is getting great scoring chances night in and night out. The price could be doubled right now and I would consider him.
Johnny Gaurdeau ($9,650) - “Johnny Hockey” is coming into this game off of a hat trick in Monday’s game against Jon Quick. That is impressive for anyone and a real confidence booster. This might be just what the kid needed to get going. The price tag is very reasonable and the matchup is great.
Others: Chris Kunitz, Josh Bailey
Right Wing:
Kyle Okposo ($13,150) - Okposo has 20 shots in the last 3 games and with how bad Buffalo is at controlling the puck, the Islanders should have chances all game long. I wouldn’t be shocked if he has another 8 shots on goal tonight. The NYI scoring is starting to be more spread ou,t but Okposo and Tavares are still your safest options.
Filip Forsberg ($9,800) - Ray Emery is expected to be in net for the Flyers and that is always a guy you want some exposure to. Forsberg is running away in the Calder trophy race for good reason. His speed should be just what it takes to take advantage of the poor defensive play from Philly.
Others: Martin St. Louis, Gustav Nyquist
Defenseman:
Dan Boyle ($5,000) - Another 100% must play for me. He is getting the top power play time and the Devils penalty kill is ranked 23rd in the league. The minimum price is just a bonus as I would be willing to pay 9k for him tonight. I don’t see how you can avoid him.
Duncan Kieth ($10,150) - Colorado is another team like Buffalo that really struggles to control the puck. With as much as Kieth is on the ice and how much Chicago will be in the offensive zone Kieth will have plenty of chances to look for his big slapshot.
Others: Nick Leddy, Zdeno Chara
