Daily Fantasy Baseball Top Picks
Kyle could have Blanksed my losses.
Daily Fantasy Baseball like it’s real life counterpart can change drastically with one swing of the bat.
That swing for me happened to be Chase Headley striking out with two runners on base in the top of the 11th. The game was tied and yesterday’s value pick Kyle Blanks was on deck. I had Blanks in nearly every lineup to boot. When he came to the plate to lead off the 11th he hit a screeching line drive into left field for a double. Now I know there’s no way to tell what would have happened if the at-bat had instead come with two outs in the 11th, but I couldn’t help but dream of two run doubles in my sleep last night. Luckily my Angels stacks were able to ease my pain as Harang was Harung out to dry.
Try and take me out with your best daily fantasy baseball roster in one of the $1 +.10 Head to Head games I’m sitting in. I’m also geared up for some exhilarating large field daily fantasy baseball tourney action in the $5 +.50 Throwdown. Don’t forget to join the MLB Freeroll either, it’s free money! I’ll be on Twitter as the action unfolds so shoot me a tweet and talk some smack!
Daily Fantasy Baseball Weather Alert
Mets @ Braves - 90% chance of rain. Nationals @ Phillies - 50% chance of rain. Pirates @ Reds - 50% chance of rain.
Rays @ Red Sox - 50% chance of rain. Athletics @ Rangers - 20% chance of rain. Dodgers @ Yankees - 40% chance of rain.
Pitcher
Mat Latos - $11000 - Mike Leake made the Pirates look anemic yesterday, and Latos hasn’t lost in 21 starts. He should get plenty of run support opposite Charlie Morton.
Cliff Lee - $14900 - The man that needs no explanation needs no explanation. If you have the salary available you should fire away.
I call this one ‘Skip To My Bruce’ .
Catcher
J.P. Arencibia - $5500 - Good price and I expect Toronto to tee off on Jeff Francis today. Hitting well in his past two contests.
Victor Martinez - $6400 - Zach Britton makes a spot start in Detroit where the Tigers own the best home batting average in the majors. This one is going to get ugly.
First Base
Mike Carp - $6400 - Aside from an early season slump, Carp has been as solid as they come this year. He should be ready for today’s game.
Joey Votto - $7300 - The Reds are likely to mash Charlie Morton, and I have particular faith in the Reds duo of prolific left-handers.
Second Base
Skip Schumaker - $4100 - Phil Hughes has been sub-par against lefties this year. Lineup filler to stack other spots.
Omar Infante - $6500 - #ZachBrittonProbz
Third Base
Miguel Cabrera - $9900 - Miggy came alive last night. Apparently reports of his demise were exaggerated. He will consume Britton.
Michael Young - $4200 - Continues to provide solid value at a ridiculous price tag.
Shortstop
Jhonny Peralta - $6500 - Noticing a Zach Britton theme yet? Peralta has hit well over the past week.
Outfield
Jay Bruce - $8100 - Bruce is on fire and gets a tasty matchup with Charlie Morton.
Matt Joyce - $8400 - Joyce has been a consistent stud and it’s hard to imagine Felix Doubront giving him trouble.
Josh Hamilton - $5400 - Given the matchup against Bonderman, I think this is where we finally see Hamilton put together solid back-to-back showings.
Giancarlo Stanton - $7500 - The matchup is nothing special, but this guy can’t stop mashing the ball since returning from injury.
Austin Jackson - $6500 - Have I mentioned Zach Britton yet?
As I settle in and begin to feel more comfortable with daily fantasy baseball following a brief fantasy sports hiatus after the basketball season, I’ve officially discovered a new obsession- stacking. Last night I rode an Angels stack to victory, and the previous day saw me become president of the Orioles fan club. Today I have an eye on the Tigers (as if you couldn’t tell). I’m also liking the Reds, Blue Jays, and the Angels once again. Leave me a comment below and let me know what your best stacking experience has been, or just some general advice to a new(ish) daily fantasy baseball player in regards to stacking.
