Fantasy Hockey Picks 2-7-15
These fantasy hockey picks are your key to success on tonight’s slate!
We have a 9 game slate with plenty of big favorites to target tonight. Unlike the last 3 nights of games this one should have plenty to like. I expect this to be a very high scoring night around the league and hitting on the value plays will be key.
It looks like the pricing for goalies has changed drastically with $15,000 now being the cheapest. A ton of players were removed from the player pool which also helps “clean up” the building process. Thanks DraftDay.
Goalies:
Petr Mrazek ($18,150) - Coming off of two great games including a 28 save shutout, you have to look at Mrazek in this matchup. The Red Wings are big favorites traveling to Arizona to face a bad Coyotes team. Coming in at one of the cheaper options in net due to the pricing change and the likelihood that he gets the win makes him a solid option tonight.
Devan Dubnyk ($20,700) - Dubnyk has only allowed 3 goals in his 4 games after the All Star break. He has 2 shutouts and 4 wins in that time. This should be another win for the Minnesota team and I like to guarantee the points for the win.
Others: Carey Price, Kari Lehtonen
Centers:
Tyler Bozak ($8,300) - Toronto has not been able to score the puck at all recently. This is a bit concerning but Bozak found the back of the net last night and against EDM I have to consider them. He is centering the top line with JVR and Kessel. This line has been explosive int he past and I am not ready to give up on them yet.
Sidney Crosby ($12,750) - THERE ARE 7 CENTERS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN CROSBY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Enough said.
Others: Pavel Datsyuk, Ryan Johansen
Left Wing:
Thomas Vanek ($9,900) - He is skating on the top line with Zach Parise and the top power play unit as well. Colorado is one of the worst puck possession teams in the league and has only been winning games due to some fantastic goaltending. Even if Varlamov stands on his head with another great performance the shots add up very quickly on DraftDay.
David Perron ($9,950) - Skating with Crosby all game certainly has its benefits. The prices on both of them are just too low to ignore tonight. Perron has 2 goals and an assist in the last 2 games and has been playing great since being traded to Pittsburgh.
Others: Alex Galchenyuk, Jamie Benn
Right Wing:
Patrick Eaves ($8,450) - Still skating with the studs on Dallas in Benn/Seguin on the top line and top power play unit. That along with the matchup against Buffalo to go along with the savings makes him impossible to ignore. A no-brainer if you ask me.
Justin Abdelkader ($9,600) -I think the Red Wings will find a way to score 3 or 4 goals tonight and getting cheap exposure to their top power play unit is a nice way to go. He has been pretty consistent as of late which is a great attribute for cash games.
Others: Jason Pominville, Phil Kessel
Defense:
Zdeno Chara ($9,450) - The price is way down for a player of this caliber. Boston is holding on to the last playoff spot right now so every game is crucial. Chara is a leader on this team and I expect him to really step up his game the rest of the season. The price will never be this low again. Take advantage while you can.
Morgan Rielly ($7,200) - Rielly is very cheap tonight and got some power play time last game. Against EDM this is the game i think Toronto’s offense finally gets going and with the bonus points for power play points Rielly is a great place to save.
