Fantasy Hockey Picks 11-13-14
These fantasy hockey picks will save you time and make you money tonight!
A slow night in the NBA usually means a large night for us puck heads. I am going to need a good night tonight after these last few days. Let’s turn this thing around.
Goalies:
Cam Ward ($17,250) - The Hurricanes are starting to play good hockey and Cam Ward has a lot to do with it. Ward has not allowed more than 2 goals in any of his last 5 starts and the team has won all 5. He gets another great matchup tonight so there is no reason his hot streak should stop now.
Darcy Kuemper ($16,500) - It is easy to pick on the Buffalo Sabres with your goalie. As the old saying going “easy does it”. No reason to get cute tonight by fading Kuemper at this price. Minnesota has not been scoring in front of Kuemper but that all changes tonight with Buffalo in town. Roster him with confidence.
Others: Henrik Lundqvist, Jonas Hiller
Center:
Eric Staal ($11,700) - Staal has really been looking for his shot the last couple of games. The matchup is nice and the price doesn’t break the bank. Ideally, he would be on a line with Jeff Skinner, but if you take both of them you have exposure to the top two lines and two on the top power play. With both player, you’ll likely have a piece of every Canes score.
Mikael Granlund ($8,000) - Centering the top line against Buffalo is always a good place to look for players. With the injury to Zach Parise, Granlund will be skating with Thomas Vanek and Jason Pominville. Those two turned Cody Hodgson into a relevant fantasy player when he centered their line for Buffalo, and Granlund is in a great spot.
Others: Sean Monahan, Anze Kopitar
Left Wing:
Rick Nash ($15,050) - Nash is playing great right now. NYR are finally starting to look like the team from last season and Nash is leading the charge. Nash is tied for the league lead in goals and often flies under the radar in daily fantasy games.
Benoit Pouliot ($7,050) - Continues to benefit from the injury to Taylor Hall. Pouliot has a goal in each of his last 2 games and his price is still too low. He is getting all of the time with the top line and top power play unit in a game that will likely be played at a very fast pace with tons of scoring chances. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is a 4-3 game and I want a piece of it.
Others: Jiri Tilusty, Thomas Vanek
Right Wing:
Ryan Callahan ($11,900) - Niemi has been very shaky in net this season. Callahan is one of my favorite players int he league because never takes a shift off. He will test the goalie early and often, and the way Niemi is playing a few will find the back of the net. Callahan skates with Stamkos 100% of the time so the assists are always there to be had.
Marian Gaborik ($8,100) - Gaborik is finally healthy and has a goal in each of the last two games. Skating with Anze Kopitar will provide a huge scoring threat. Considering the way the Jeff Carter line is playing, the opposition will not be able to focus solely on this scoring line. Gaborik can score with the best of them and this price is just way too low.
Others: Reilly Smith, P.A. Parenteau
Defense:
Justin Schultz ($8,700) - Loves to join the rush anytime he can, and this is a game where we expect more fast paced action with plenty of chances for defensemen. Schultz will get all of the power play time and that is huge for a value play defensmen.
Anton Stralman ($6,750) - Another play that is just too cheap. He is still getting the power play time with Stamkos and Callahan even though Tampa has added another defenseman to the point on their power play. Stralman loves to set up his team mates and passing to Stamkos is a great place to start.
Others: Ryan Suter, Andrew Ferance
