Fantasy Golf Strategy RBC Canadian Open Top Picks
Fantasy golf strategy is about more than just the course at hand this week.
The players are coming off one of the more exhausting, jet-lagged weekends of the season with the British Open now in the rear-view mirror. That’s not to say there still isn’t good daily fantasy golf strategy to be exploited, just that we must be careful in selecting players whose conditions are favorable for a strong performance.
The RBC Canadian Open will be played at Glen Abbey Golf Course in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. It’s a grueling 7,253 yards to a par 72. The course changes to a different location every year so it won’t help us as much to look at how players have fared in previous outings. The weather looks like it’s good to go as well, with a slight chance of inclement exposure on Saturday afternoon.
Fantasy Golf Strategy - Top Golfers
Jim Herman - $23,000 - Pricey, but he has had high finishes over the last month. Let’s ride the hot hand here.
Cameron Tringale - $17,000 - 10th on the tour at hitting greens, Tringale is primed for a big win if he can get his putting game together.
Jim Furyk - $9,400 - You have to love the excellent value here, and Furyk has historically played this course well. He’s cooled down a bit after starting the season hot, but I think this is the week he turns it around.
Hunter Mahan - $16,500 - The last time he played here he tied for fourth. Mahan is coming off a top-10 finish at the British Open last week, and should be able to parlay that momentum into something special.
Brandt Snedeker - $13,400 - He finished fifth last time he played at Glen Abbey, and is coming off three straight top-20 performances.
Matt Kuchar - $20,400 - He’s made 20 straight cuts and is ranked sixth in adjusted overall scoring.
Stephen Ames - $8,700 - He tied for eighth in 2009 at Glen Abbey.
Chris Kirk - $19,700 - Kirk has only missed three cuts in 18 events this season, and only three of those have been outside the top-50. Consistency is virtue here.
