Fantasy Hockey Picks 2-10-15
These fantasy hockey picks are your guide to uncovering BIG winnings on the ice tonight!
I’m looking to bounce back after a rough weekend of DFS and the 9 game slate tonight is just what I need. With the NBA heading into the All Star Break I am focusing 100% of my attention on the NHL.
Goalies:
Jake Allen ($16,400) - I am looking at value plays tonight in net. Arizona is coming off a shocking win last night in Chicago and I would be stunned if they come into STL tonight and do the same. STL is one of the best home teams in the league with a 20-5-2 record. Allen is so cheap that he can afford to allow 2 goals and easily pay off this price.
Robin Lehner ($15,050) - An even cheaper option tonight that gets the best matchup in the league. Buffalo has surprisingly won 2 of their last 3 games but I am not buying it. This is the only team in the league to average less than 2 goals per game. The 29th ranked offense scores nearly a half of a goal more. This just shows how historically bad the Sabres are. Always target their opponents.
Others: Jaroslav Halak
Centers:
Paul Statsny ($9,450) - Riding a 5-game point streak and recently moved up to the top power play unit to skate with his line mates at even strength. That and a ridiculously low price tag makes him a must play in my mind.
Anders Lee ($8,450) - Anders has 3 goals in the last 4 games skating with superstar John Tavares. He is the biggest beneficiary of the Kyle Okposo injury it seems in terms of fantasy hockey. NYI has been dropping some unexpected games lately and I think they get back on track tonight.
Others: Ryan Getzalf, Mikael Granlund
Left Wing:
Bobby Ryan ($11,600) - Ryan comes into this game with 4 points in 5 games after the break. He is really looking for his shot any chance he gets and against Buffalo that leads to huge games. He is the most consistent forward to take when rostering anyone from Ottawa and the first to look at tonight.
Rick Nash ($16,200) - With the value plays listed at Center and Goalie you will have some salary to spend tonight. Look no further than the league leader in goals scored this season. He has 5 goals in his last 5 games and is shooting non-stop. Even if he doesn’t find the back of the net he is capable of taking 7-8 shots on goal and really contributing to your team.
Others: Milan Lucic, Alex Steen
Right Wing:
Nikita Kucherov ($10,800) - He has 3 goals in the last 3 games and added an assist Thursday against Dallas. The price has risen a little bit but but still not matching his production on the season. I expect Nashville to have the Weber/Josi defensive pairing focus on the Steven Stamkos line and they will open things up for the “second line” on Tampa to score. I usually refuse to take anyone at Nashville as they are a great defensive team but this price puts him in play.
Cory Perry ($14,250) - Now that his running mate Getzalf is back, Perry is back in play. These two can’t be ignored when playing fantasy on any given night. 4 goals and 3 assists in the last 5 games is the type of production you must consider.
Others: T.J Oshie, Patrick Eaves
Defense:
Erik Karlsson ($14,200) - I am going to do whatever it takes to roster him tonight. Averaging over 27 minutes of ice time and a matchup against the Buffalo Sabres is a place I want to be. Leading all defensemen in shots on goal it is only a matter of time until Karlsson puts up a monster game.
Zdeno Chara ($9,250) - Until this price tag reaches at least $12,000, I am looking to roster him night in and night out. Dallas has really been struggling in net this season allowing 3.21 goals per game. Chara has one of the best shots from the blue line and he should have plenty of chances to let it rip tonight.
Others: Alex Pietrangelo, Dan Boyle
