Fantasy Hockey Picks 10-28-14
These fantasy hockey picks will take you advantage of NHL action while everyone is focused on the NBA top-off!
Goalies:
Jaroslav Halak ($17,650) - The odds are not posted yet, but I believe the Islanders will be a large favorite, which makes Halak a safe bet for the win. The blue line play of NYI has done a complete 180 from last season, and they are playing great with the exception of the Toronto game.
Jonathan Bernier ($16,200) - Bernier has played awful so far this season and the team is 1-5 in his starts. I am hoping this will deter people from playing him against an abysmal Buffalo team tonight. Play the matchup as this is DAILY fantasy and forget his recent performances.
Others: Carey Price, Ryan Miller
Centers:
John Tavares ($15,650) - NYI should light up Ondrej Pavalec tonight, and Tavares is the top playmaker on the team. He should see the most ice time of any of NYI forward in what should be a fast paced game with plenty of scoring chances.
Alex Killorn ($5,550) - Killorn is getting the huge bump in value as he will be skating with Steven Stamkos tonight. This is a spot that I would consider any player in the league at, and for this price the opportunities are endless. Mike Smith has also been terrible this season and I expect this TB top line to produce.
Others: Tyler Bozak, Alex Galchenyuk
Left Wing:
Daniel Sedin ($12,800) - The Sedin’s are back to form after a very down year last season. Daniel has already racked up 11 points in just 8 games. He is off to an incredible start, and this matchup is no reason for him to slow down.
Dainius Zubrus ($5,550) - Zubrus is near minimum price and skating on the top line for the Devils. Pittsburgh goalies have not played great this season and Zubrus provides a lot of value. The only thing that concerns me is that he is not getting the power play time. Check the morning skate reports to see if this will change, because it would greatly improve his upside.
Others: Scott Hartnell, Joffrey Lupol
Right Wing:
Jeff Carter ($12,800) - Is starting this season off at a blistering pace with 12 points in just 8 games. There is no way that he can keep up the 1.5 points per game pace, but until he cools down I am buying in.
Alexandre Burrows ($6,950) - With the defense trying to focus on the Sedin twins, things should open up for Burrows. Carolina has been a popular team to pick on early in this season and for good reason. They can’t stop anybody right now and Burrows is a scoring threat for cheap.
Others: Ryan Johansen, Valterri Fluppula
Defense:
Damon Severson ($5,750) - This price is still not catching up to what this kid is doing. He is an auto play everyday until his price catches up with his performance.
Anton Stralman ($5,500) - The same thing goes here. As long as Victor Hedman is out, Stralman is an auto play at this price. I don’t care what the matchup is when he is getting the power play time with the top unit.
Others: Brent Burns, Johnny Boychuk
