Fantasy Basketball Picks 11-7-14
These fantasy basketball picks are loaded with value for you to maximize your lineup potential tonight!
Last night was an easy night to avoid, with only two games on the slate, and Gregg Popovich seemingly benching half of his team. My “Studs and Duds” are determined by the amount of points returned dependent on salary, which is why you’ll see players with similar scores in both categories. Here is your recap of Wednesday’s plays:
Studs: Patrick Patterson (27.50), Channing Frye (33.00), Jimmy Butler (37.25), Garrett Temple (36.25), Thaddeus Young (32.75), DeMarcus Cousins (48.50)
Duds: Darren Collison (25.25), Klay Thompson (26.75), Kevin Love (25.50), Nerlens Noel (11.00)
Today’s Top Plays
Guard:
Rajon Rondo ($16,450) vs Indiana – Rondo is quietly having a tremendous start to the season, nearly averaging a triple-double at 9.3/9/12.5 per game. On a site like this one that rewards for double-doubles, Rondo has a very high ceiling. A matchup against Donald Sloan and the Pacers should provide Rondo with little resistance as he chases his second straight triple-double. He very well could be one of the highest scorers once again, despite only scoring 9 points per game.
Eric Bledsoe ($12,400) vs Sacramento – While everyone is focusing on the “Revenge Game” for Isaiah Thomas in his first matchup against his former team, I’ll be targeting Bledsoe. Ben McLemore is a terrible defender, and the Kings will need to find an answer for Bledsoe in the backcourt. I expect Bledsoe to easily eclipse 1 FP per minute, and if he can approach 35 FP, his a steal at this price.
Kevin Martin ($14,200) at Orlando–We have all seen this before from Martin. He had some huge games in a Rockets uniform, then followed suit with some monster games in Minnesota. With Kevin Love no longer shouldering the load, and Martin finally 100%, he could easily approach 25-30 points per night. He is averaging 29.5/7/2.5 in 37 minutes over his past two games, and should have no trouble with any player the Magic throw at him. He is a volume scorer who can score in bunches, and that’s what I’m banking on tonight.
Garrett Temple ($7,350) at Toronto – If you’re sick of hearing this name here, then fade him at your own risk. Temple has been nothing short of extraordinary in Bradley Beal’s absence, and with a price tag that is still very, very low, I’ll once again be slotting him in every single one of my lineups. He is averaging 34 FP per game over his past two, and is by far the best value on the board. If you aren’t taking advantage of Temple each night, then I may not be able to save you.
Forward:
LeBron James ($17,950) at Denver– I almost did a double-take when I saw James’ salary this morning, and I’ll be taking full advantage. It doesn’t seem like a remarkable discount, but when I can roster the best player in the world for less than 18% of my salary cap, I’m all in. The Cavaliers are struggling, and LeBron hasn’t looked like himself. With that being said, he has still posted 45+ FP in two of his last three games. The Cavaliers need this win to gain some confidence, and I anticipate The King being very aggressive in this one. The Nuggets have no defensive presence down low, and LeBron should have clear lanes to the basket all night long. Don’t be surprised if he posts 60+ FP.
Chris Copeland ($10,850) at Boston - Copeland has been a spark plug off the bench for Indiana, and has scored at least 19 points in three straight games, including 19/12/4 against Washington. He is one of the best offensive weapons that Indiana has, and a matchup with the Boston bigs has me excited. Dirk Nowitzki went for 27/7/4 in just 30 minutes in this same matchup a few days ago. Obviously, Copeland isn’t in Dirk’s class offensively, but he is younger and more athletic. Copeland is my favorite play on the board if you consider price.
Courtney Lee ($9,750) at Oklahoma City– Lee returned from a concussion with a vengeance on Wednesday night, posting 22/3/3 against Phoenix. He is shooting a remarkable 60% from the field, and is contributing in every category. Any player with Lee’s talent and opportunity who is playing significant minutes is worth considering. A matchup with the Thunder’s depleted backcourt puts Lee in a terrific spot tonight. Use him with confidence and watch him triple his salary tonight.
Serge Ibaka ($14,550) vs Memphis – Yes, it is true that the Grizzlies are the toughest defensive team in the Western Conference, and possibly best in the NBA. However, they do have one weakness on the defensive end, and his name is Zach Randolph. Z-Bo has been brutalized by athletic big men, and Ibaka may be the most well-rounded PF in the game outside of Kevin Love. In his last game, he shot 11/14, including a trio of 3-pointers, as well as 11 rebounds, 2 assists and a block. Ibaka is the best player on an injury-ravaged team, and the Thunder will need him to step up tonight if they are going to get a win against a tough Grizzlies team.
Center:
Greg Monroe ($13,850) vs Milwaukee – Let’s recap this one really quickly. After missing the first two games of the season due to suspension, he has been simply dominant. In 66 minutes of action, Monroe has 41 points, 29 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals and ONE turnover. He is averaging nearly 1.5 FP per minute of court time, and at this price the matchup doesn’t even matter (the matchup is great). Use Monroe as much as you can tonight against a weak Bucks interior.
Channing Frye ($10,350) vs Minnesota– Despite one of the biggest price jumps, I’m riding the Frye train again tonight. With no viable “punt” option at Center tonight, Frye fits the bill thanks to multi-position eligibility. He has played 36 minutes in each of the last two games, and has posted 31 and 33 FP. He is remarkably consistent, and his minutes should be safe due to a lack of depth in Orlando. Anticipate 20-25 Fp, but be pleasantly surprised when he hits 30+ against Thaddeus Young’s lazy defending.
