Five Guys Top Daily Fantasy Baseball Plays 4-17-14
It’s time to turn our complete attention to top daily fantasy baseball plays from here on out.
With daily fantasy basketball officially wrapping up its season, we won’t be forced to divide our attention any longer. I actually prefer the small overlay between the two seasons, as it provides a buffer period before I go all-in with my top daily fantasy baseball plays in heavy cash game volume. Daily fantasy baseball is a behemoth of an undertaking, and having a few weeks to grasp the ever-changing landscape before diving completely in is a nice tool to utilize.
If you find yourself ready to jump headfirst into daily fantasy baseball cash game play, you’ll need to keep a couple things in mind. Daily fantasy baseball is much more volatile on a day-to-day basis than other daily fantasy sports, and avoiding daily fantasy tilt is a skill highly valued. You must also remember to pay up for solid starting pitching in your daily fantasy baseball cash games. Unlike other sports where you’re operating between a floor/ceiling dynamic with your selections, every daily fantasy baseball slugger has a natural floor of zero fantasy points. Starting pitchers are the only source of guaranteed points, and while they can be volatile at times as well, they generally represent a safe source of fantasy points.
Keeping those tips in mind, let’s examine tonight’s top daily fantasy baseball plays.
Five Guys Top Daily Fantasy Baseball Plays
Adam Wainwright $15,550 - Wainwright features a stellar strikeout-to-walk ratio, and the Nationals aren’t exactly an offense known for lighting up strong opposing pitchers. Clocking in as one of the biggest favorites on the day, Wainwright is the starting pitcher you want your money on in cash game play.
Evan Longoria $9,900 - Longo Dongo is one of my favorite phrases in Major League Baseball, and I may finally get to scream it at the top of my lungs tonight. Longoria has disappointed in a few favorable spots to start the season, but his career statistics tell the story of one of the league’s most prolific lefty-mashers. C.C. Sabathia’s struggles from last season have carried over, and that means the entire Rays lineup is poised to score some serious runs tonight.
Scott Feldman $10,400 - This is certainly a risky pick, as Feldman is by no means as talented as his early-season starts suggest. The Royals are much better against lefties though, and being forced to roster two starting pitchers makes going cheap alongside your stud an intriguing option. I think you can pay down for Feldman and load up on hitters this evening.
Ben Zobrist $10,350 - As I stated earlier, I fully expect the Rays to pummel Sabathia early and often. Zobrist will be featured in the heart of the order, and I love him to contribute to the shellacking.
Alfonso Soriano $9,000 - I actually like David Price this evening, but the salary for Soriano is too tasty to pass up. I don’t encourage rostering pitchers and hitters facing one another in large tournament lineups, as it severely hampers your upside. I do however believe it’s fine in cash games, and I wouldn’t be opposed to pairing both together.
