Fantasy Hockey Picks 3-3-15
Our expert fantasy hockey picks will lead you into the money tonight!
The trade deadline has come and gone and we are in the final stretch of the season. With not nearly as many moves made as we anticipated the deadline was somewhat of a letdown but there was some fantasy shake ups that we must pay attention to.
Goalies:
Jonathan Quick ($20,350) - The Kings are desperate for points right now and playing like the champions they are (except Sunday). If you throw out Sunday’s afternoon game, Quick has allowed an average of 1 goal per game in the previous 7 contests. I expect the great play to continue as LA needs every point possible to secure a playoff spot.
Ben Bishop ($19,450) - If you want the safest option on the board tonight Bishop is your guy. The Lightning are one of the best home teams in the league and host the worst team int he league by far in Buffalo. The only problem with Bishop is that he will likely not face a lot of shots so if one or two find the back of the net his upside is limited.
Others: Devan Dubnyk, John Gibson
Centers:
Jeff Carter ($12,400) - The Kings “70s” line remains hot as Carter scored twice in the teams 5-2 loss on Sunday. He is finding a way to produce every single game even if it is 4-5 shots on goal which add up very quickly with the scoring on DraftDay.com.
Claude Giroux ($14,600) - Giroux has 25 shots on goal in his last 5 games and it seems that being put on a different skating line than Voracek is helping them both lately. The opposing defense can’t focus all of their attention on one skating line this way and it provides more scoring chances when facing teams 2nd and 3rd lines.
Others: Anders Lee, Jason Spezza
Left Wing:
Alex Killorn ($7,450) - Skating with Steven Stamkos and Ryan Callahan really has its benefits and this line should dominate the Sabres tonight. Killorn is a great value option and should have plenty of opportunities on the teams top power play unit against the leagues 29th ranked penalty kill.
Alex Ovechkin ($18,850) - Do whatever it takes to play him tonight. The Jackets are missing stud defensive center Brandon Dubinsky and recently traded away a top defensemen. Ovechkin has 29 shots in the 4 meetings between these two this season as Columbus can’t stay out of the penalty box. It is only a matter of time until he has a monster game given the amount of power play time.
Others: Josh Bailey, Dwight King
Right Wing:
Kyle Palmieri ($9,350) - A top value play tonight against the Coyotes. Skating with one of the best duos in the league all game long and on the power play against an Arizona team that has mailed it in and traded away their best defensemam and top line center. The Ducks should light the lamp plenty tonight and the value is there.
Nikita Kucherov ($10,450) - Tampa is my favorite team to target tonight as they have scored 5 goals on two separate occasions against Buffalo already this season. Kucherov’s price never seems to increase and is always in play anytime you like Tampa.
Others: Corey Perry, Cam Atkinson
Defense:
Anton Stralman ($8,800) - Stralman’s price never seems to go up. Getting the power play time with the “triplet line” against Buffalo makes him a great play tonight and one of the cheaper ways to get exposure to the Tampa Power play against Buffalo.
Cam Fowler ($7,100) - Fowler has been a huge disappointment offensively this season but I still expect it to change. With the team trading for James Wisniewski, Fowler’s power play time will be taken away if he doesn’t start producing. He will be motivated against a bad penalty kill.
Others: Mark Streit, Johnny Boychuck
