Fantasy Hockey Picks 10-31-14
With just four games in the NHL tonight, these fantasy hockey picks will help you prevail over the competition!
Goalies:
Pekka Rinne ($21,950) - Pekka seems to be fully healthy and playing great. He is allowing an outstanding 1.75 goals per game, and this matchup is one of the best on the night. I believe he is the safest for the win, even though Vegas has all 4 games lined close.
Frederik Andersen ($19,950) - The Ducks will focus on slowing down the Stars top line of Spezza-Seguin-Benn. If they can manage that, then Andersen should be in line for a great night. The Ducks had no problem eliminating Dallas from the playoffs last season and should be able to get the win tonight as well.
Centers:
Ryan Johansen ($13,350) - Toronto is one of the weaker teams on tonight’s short slate. Johansen is centering the only skating line in Columbus that is not depleted by injuries. “Ryjo” will be asked to do more and I think he can tonight. There is nobody else on this team right now that can take over a game and this young kid is going to look to score every time out, knowing that he doesn’t have much help.
Pavel Datsyuk ($7,950) - I hate taking players against the Kings but with the price being this low for a top 10 player in the league, I can’t resist. Datsyuk looks like he is back and 100% healthy. You are a fool to not consider him at this price.
Left Wing:
Jamie Benn ($15,350) - Is skating on what many consider around the industry to be the best line for fantasy. They are a top 3 line easily, so I can’t argue with the logic. Anytime you can play Benn/Seguin at home when they get the last shift, you go for it. With 5 goals and 6 assists in only 9 games he is off to a great start this season.
Matt Belesky ($5,850) - Is back to skating with Getzalf/Perry. Whoever the 3rd is with those two is always a solid value option. Opposing defenses always focus on the other two, so Belesky will get some chances to score. Perry and Getzalf are matchup proof, so even with all of the focus on them Belesky is in a great spot to pick up a few assists.
Right Wing:
James Neal ($12,550) - Neal is Nasville’s only pure goal scorer. Anytime I look to play a forward from Nasvhille he is my first choice. Neal already has a hat trick this year and is capable of scoring in bunches any night, which is something that can’t be said for anyone else on this team.
Tyler Toffoli ($9,250) - Toffoli just continues to produce. With the injury to Anze Kopitar it looks like Toffoli will be getting time with his usual line mates on the team’s top powerplay as well. The only thing holding Toffoli back was the amount of time on the ice but this should increase, and he is now in play.
Defense:
Trevor Daley ($7,900) - Seems to be much higher priced around the industry and that should tell you something. You’re getting a value here and should consider taking advantage of it. With Daley getting the power play time along with Seguin/Benn/Spezza, he is in a spot to just run into assists whether he tries or not.
Kris Russel ($7,750) - I never like to take anyone against my favorite goalie play of the night, but Russel is an exception. He gets most of his fantasy points from blocking shots and his price is low. Last I looked he was 2nd in the league in blocked shots and these count just as much as a shot on goal but often get overlooked by players when building teams.
