Fantasy Hockey Picks 10-18-14
We have a nice 11-game slate for our fantasy hockey picks today.
Goalies
Corey Crawford $19,650 - Chicago at home after losing to Calgary? I feel sorry for the Predators tonight. Nashville played last night and has to travel on top of that? I do not see Chicago losing this game and will gladly take the points from the win for Crawford.
Branden Holtby $16,000 - It pains me to do this but the Panthers are strugglign to score. Coming off a 1-0 win at Buffalo last night Loungo is expected to be out of this game. This should help the Washington offense and support Holtby for the win at a discounted price.
Additional Plays: Carey Price, Tukka Rask
Centers
Claude Giroux $15,700 - is picking up right how he finished last season as one of the best offensive players in the world. Giroux has compiled 5 points and has registered 19 shots on goal in only 4 games. Dallas’ blue line play is average at best. Giroux should be in for a good game.
Seth Griffith $5,000 - Griffith is minimum price and skating with the Bruins “top line” along side Krejci and Lucic. Did I mention a matchup with Buffalo? BUT WAIT!!!! THERES MORE!!! He also is getting power play time with these two and Zdeno Chara. This price tag is an amazing value.
Additional Plays: Gustav Nyquist, Andrew Shaw
Left Wings
Chris Kunitz $14,450 - Pittsburgh at home is like a Coors field game for you MLB players. It’s almost impossible to ignore. NYI has been a bit of a surprise in the early going but they are no match for the offensive fire power of the Penguins. Kunitz benefits from skating with the best player in the world and often gets an assist on his goals.
Nick Foligno $6,350 - continues to get the job done. This line for the CBJ is playing very well right now and they get the backup goalie with Lehner in net. The price is not catching up to the production and I am going to ride it until it does.
Additional Plays: Justin Abdelkader (check Franzen status), Cory Conacher
Right Wings
Alex Ovechkin $18,550 - Has the dream matchup vs the Panthers backup goalie. This may be the highest price all year we see for a non goalie but I will try to fit him in. With the value plays I have listed earlier it is certainly possible. Fade at your own risk.
Kyle Okposo $13,800 - Is on fire. This game should be high scoring and Okposo along with Tavares should be the ones on NYI to contribute. 3 of the 4 games the Islanders have played Okposo has had a multi point game. That is out of this world hot and this matchup should ntot slow him down.
Additional Plays: Brendan Gallahger, Troy Brouwer
Defensemen
John Carlson $10,800 - Is a great way to get exposure to Ovechkin. Carlson is on the other point of the power play so plenty of chances to get assists on Ovy scores. Logging over 22 minutes of ice time per game is a huge plus at home vs a very bad FLA team.
Damon Severson $5,000 - Another great game by the young prospect and the price remains the minimum. Draftday is making a mistake with this and I will keep exploiting it. Not a good matchup at all but the way he is playing and the price he could be playing the Mon-Stars from Spacejam and I would roster him.
Additional Plays: Paul Martin (another mistake in pricing) Mark Streit
