Fantasy Hockey Picks 1-10-15
These fantasy hockey picks are designed to help you win BIG!
Last night was awful. Everyone and their mother loaded up on Tampa and they let us down with only 2 goals. Luckily contests only last one day and we get a fresh start. There are 3 early games which I will ignore as most of the contests do.
Goalies:
Jonathan Quick ($14,550) - I have no idea how he went from over $25,500 to under $15,000. This just blows my mind and he will be in 100% of my lineups tonight. I am only going to list one goalie today because if you are not playing Quick tonight at this price you are out of your mind.
Others: Ryan Miller, Kari Lehtonen
Centers:
Anze Kopitar ($10,650) - Kopitar has 4 points in his last 2 games and is always a better play at home, much like the rest of the Kings. The Jets are coming off of a horrible performance Thursday night in Arizona where they gave up 2 goals in the first 3:18 of the game and never looked right as they were desperate to catch up. They couldn’t stay out of the penalty box so Kopitar should get a few chances with the man advantage tonight.
Kyle Turris ($11,400) - Speaking of the Coyotes, one good game is not going to make me stay away from taking forwards against them. With the bonus points for power play points you want to target Arizona’s 29th ranked penalty kill. There is not much to like at center tonight unless you are paying up for a stud. Turris provides a little salary relief tonight which makes him interesting.
Others: Antoine Vermette, Ryan Johansen
Left Wing:
Andre Burakovsky ($5,450) - Skating with Ovechkin and Backstrom on even strength has been a place to look for value all season long. It has been a rotating door but it is Burakovsky’s turn now. The value he gives you will provide the salary relief to play Ovechkin and they can easily connect for a goal or two in any given game.
Jaden Schwartz ($15,550) - The Blues offense looks unstoppable right now. Schwartz is riding a 6 game point streak with 10 points in that span. That is incredible and I don’t see him slowing down against Carolina. It is tough to predict where the scoring will come from on STL so I suggest getting exposure to both lines tonight. If they continue scoring at the rate they are right now you can’t go wrong with anyone from their top 6.
Others: David Perron, Dustin Brown
Right Wing:
Alex Ovechkin ($18,750) - This price tag is ridiculous but I don’t care right now. He has not had less than 5 fantasy points in 7 straight games. Pairing him with Burakovsky will give you the salary relief you need as I mentioned before. Do everything you can to get him in there tonight as he has the most upside of any player in the league any given night.
Kyle Okposo ($11,550) - Columbus is playing awful right now, and giving up a ton of shots every game. Over the course of the season Columbus is allowing 33.3 shots per game which is ranked 27th in the league. Over the past 3 weeks this number has been a lot higher as the team continues to play poorly. The Tavares/Okposo combo is always in play for me as they seem to never disappoint and always find a way to find the score sheet at least once.
Others: Alex Burrows, Jeff Carter
Defense:
Jay Bouwmeester ($6,350) - The cheapest way to get some exposure to the power play for STL. If you’re going to afford their high priced studs Bouwmeester is the salary relief you need. He is getting over 22 minutes of ice time per game and the way this offense is scoring anyone on the ice for STL is in play for me.
Nick Leddy ($7,000) - Columbus is really struggling to stay out of the penalty box right now. Leddy is a very cheap way to get exposure to the top power play for the Islanders. Take advantage of those bonus points for power play points. Another salary relief play that should allow you to fit the big guns for STL in your lineup.
Others: Niklas Kronwall, Dan Boyle
